♟️ Avondale Gate Magnet Chess Program

– Program Overview At Implodians Chess School, our mission is to help every child grow in skill, confidence, and love for the game of chess. Whether your child is brand new to chess or already competing in tournaments, we provide a structured program that meets them at their level.

 



Just for Fun Chess Club (Beginners & Casual Players)

  • Format: 1-hour session, once per week.
     
  • Structure:
     
    • 15 minutes – Group lesson covering fundamentals such as piece movement, development, checkmating patterns, and good opening habits.
       
    • 40 minutes – Guided play time. Kids play games while instructors go board-to-board, giving feedback and helping when needed.
       
  • Focus: Building a strong foundation, developing good habits early, and having fun while learning through play.
     

This group is perfect for children who are learning the game, want to play casually with friends, or are just starting their chess journey.

Learn More

Advanced Chess Team (Experienced & Tournament Players)

 


  • Format: 1-hour session, once per week.
     
  • Structure:
     
    • 15–30 minutes – In-depth lesson on advanced strategies, tactics, and positional concepts.
       
    • 30–45 minutes – Game play with instructor guidance.
       
    • Game Analysis: Each week, coaches review games students have played (in-person tournaments or online) to provide personalized feedback.
       
  • Focus: Tournament preparation, deep understanding of chess strategy, and sharpening competitive play.
     

This group is designed for students who already compete in tournaments or plan to represent Avondale Gate in scholastic chess events.

✨ Both programs are led by Coach Bryan Wilson, CEO of Implodians Chess School, one of Michigan’s top 50 players and a championship-winning coach with 15+ years of experience.

We’re proud to say that every Implodians program we’ve run has produced State Champions, and Avondale Gate is no exception!
